Leaza Urban

Leaza Urban is a born & raised Marin County artist and has always been an art student, earning an AS degree in Interior Design at College of Marin and, more recently, returning to take various art classes. After working in the interior design industry, Leaza worked in the performing arts as an IATSE Union Stagehand in San Francisco. She mostly paints, primarily in oil, and also draws, using various media. She gravitates to and enjoys painting subjects that mean something to her on a personal level- her family, her daughter or her home (Marin County, Mt Tam, Stinson Beach and the redwoods). Leaza is also drawn to the spiritual world and loves to include a light source- a candle, the sun or the moon and gets a deep satisfaction from using colors that appear to be glowing, as well as blending colors to distinguish reflections & shadows. Recently Leaza has played with acrylic gesso under a couple of paintings to create a pattern and texture underneath the oil paint. She looks forward to more creating and exhibitions!
